War and the Humanities: A Reading Group In-Person
This group meets twice a month to discuss books about war from humanities sources: fiction, poetry, memoir, and more. For March, we will be reading Fobbit by David Abrams. This work of satire carries on the tradition of Catch-22 in showing the darkly comical, often absurd side to war. Abrams's debut novel offers two interconnected sides to the story of armed conflict. His narrative weaves together realistic portrayals of modern fighting in Iraq and a behind the curtain look at the bureaucratic process of conducting a war. This book is hilarious, uncomfortable, and packed cover to cover with memorable characters. After registering, stop in at the Edinboro Branch to pick up your copy.
