Changing of the Flags
Did you know that library has actual Civil War flags? There used to be several on display at the original Erie Public Library at Perry Square. In the mid-1990s, two Civil War Flags were restored to be put on display. Due to the damage caused by Ultraviolet light, one flag lives in the vault while the other is on display int he Heritage Room, then about every 6 months they are switched. This Flag Day, both flags will be on display from 10am-1pm on the second floor of Blasco Library before one is safely placed back into the vault.
From 11am-Noon, George Deutsch will give a presentation about the Civil War Flags and we will see photos taken during the restoration process!
