War and the Humanities: A Reading Group In-Person
This group meets to discuss books about war from humanities sources: fiction, poetry, memoir, and more. For November, we will be reading Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. This multiple-award winning novel is a demonstration in thinking about war in both abstract and concrete terms. By centering the story around children, Card adds a layer of complexity to the typical war story while offering an original context within which to think about timeless questions. Ender's Game explores themes of racism, leadership, and, most extensively, moral agency and individual responsibility. After registering, stop in at the Edinboro Branch Library to pick up your copy of the book.
This is an adult reading group.
