War and the Humanities: A Reading Group

War and the Humanities: A Reading Group In-Person

This group meets to discuss materials about war from humanities sources: fiction, poetry, memoir, and more. For June, we will be reading The Thin Red Line by James Jones. Telling the story of a contracted period of time during the Guadalcanal Campaign of WWII, Jones's novel integrates his own experience fighting in the Pacific Theater with fictionalized reflections on the burdens of leadership, the psychological attitude of soldiers, and the role of landscape in warfare. This program is free and open to the public.

Registration is required.
