War and the Humanities: A Reading Group In-Person
Join a dynamic and varied reading group that uses both famous and lesser-known works of philosophy, fiction, poetry, and other humanities sources to explore the topic of war.
This group meets to discuss materials about war from humanities sources: fiction, poetry, memoir, and more. For July, we will be read Nancy Sherman’s Afterwar. Sherman, a professor of philosophy at Georgetown University, explains and utilizes Greek ethics and Stoic philosophy to offer a robust discussion on PTSD and ‘moral injury’ in the context of modern warfare. Registration is required for this free program.
If you are interested in something different, the Edinboro Branch Library has other book clubs: check out the Civic Reading Group or First Tuesday Book Club!
