Inkle Looms In-Person

Did you know the Idea Lab now has a collection of inkle looms? An inkle loom is a simple, portable loom that’s perfect for beginners and experienced weavers alike. It’s designed for weaving strong, narrow bands that can be used for everything from belts and bag straps to decorative trims. Join presenter Karen Smock as she shows how to weave a lanyard on an inkle loom and take home your first project!

Free. Registration required. Ages 15 to adult. The class will take place in the Idea Lab's Community Classroom.

For this project, participants will need the following basic skills:

  • Able to wind yarn 
  • Able to weave yarn back and forth
  • Able to use scissors
  • Able to push yarn up and down

If you think you might need extra assistance, please bring a support person to work with you on this project.
