Valencrimes: Letter Locking

Valencrimes: Letter Locking In-Person

Join us to learn the lost art of letter locking. What did people do to send letters before the widespread use of the envelope? They folded their letters like origami to lock them so they could travel without opening! In this class we will learn a few letter locking techniques, then we'll decorate our letters and close them up with a faux wax seal. Use this technique to write a letter to a friend, send a Valentine to a loved one, or perhaps conceal something more sinister... Happy Valencrimes week!

Free. Registration required. Ages 13 to adult. The class will take place in the Idea Lab's Community Classroom. Children under 15 must be supervised by a guardian. If you will need extra assistance to complete this project, please bring a support person to help you with this class.
