Poetry Workshop: Overlooked Emotions In-Person
Expand your world with poetry. This workshop will focus on writing with emotions that are often overlooked. It will introduce poetry techniques such as imagery and perspective. The workshop is open to participants of all experience levels. Through guided prompts and interactive exercises, participants will practice writing, try out different forms, and build confidence in expressing their ideas.
As part of the workshop, participants will take part in an interactive writing exchange. After completing a short writing exercise, they will anonymously exchange their work. Each person will then read the piece they receive and expand, reinterpret, or rewrite it from a new perspective. For ages 10 to 16. Everyone under 13 must be supervised by a guardian.
This workshop is led by Rhea Xie. She is a writer whose work has received recognition from the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards and appears or is forthcoming in The Penn Review, Eunoia Review, and Gone Lawn Journal. Her work is also included in DePaul’s Blue Book.
