Take-Home Writers Kit for the WQLN Kids Writers Contest In-Person

Time is running out to register for the WQLN KIDS WRITERS CONTEST! Do you have some writers block? Please register for a writing & drawing kit for this year's WQLN Writers Workshop.

Registration will begin on February 16th. And your kit will be made available at one of our branches for pick up, the week after. Please note: that you will be contacted when your registration is complete, but your box will neeed to be delievered to your ECPL library location before you get the second email from us, saying your box is available for pickup. You will need to reserve a time for pick-up prior to arriving at the library.

WQLN PBS KIDS WRITERS CONTEST

WQLN PBS Kids Writers Contest is designed to promote the advancement of children's literacy skills through hands-on, active learning. The contest invites kids to experience the hands-on process of developing their own stories and illustrations, which builds language skills such as reading, grammar and syntax, and encourages creativity.

WQLN PBS Kids Writers Contest runs from January 1 through March 31 and is open to children in kindergarten, first, second, third, fourth, and fifth grades. First, second, and third place prizes are awarded in all four grade levels. Pre K stories accepted, but will be judged at the kindergarten level.

CONTEST DETAILS

This year's contest begins on January 1, 2021, ends on March 31, 2021, and is open to children in kindergarten through fifth grade.

1st place winners from each grade will
  • receive a cool prize
  • read excerpts of their stories, to be aired on WQLN-TV 54.1.
2nd & 3rd place winners from each grade will
  • receive cool prizes!
