The Pursuit of Happiness -- NEA Big Read In-Person
The Declaration of Independence identified "Life", "Liberty", and the "Pursuit of Happiness" as inalienable rights. Yet America's distinct and devastating policy of Indian removal denied such a pursuit to its indigenous peoples. Dr. Benjamin Scharff from Mercyhurst University will discuss the Indian removals that predate, but culminate in the Indian Removal Act of 1830.
