Poetry Live: HOMES with Moheb Soliman

Poetry Live: HOMES with Moheb Soliman In-Person

Poet Moheb Soliman's Great Lakes book tour comes to Erie! Join us at the Blasco Library for a special Poetry Live event featuring poet Moheb Soliman and his debut book HOMES. His recent debut collection HOMES (Coffee House Press, 2021) explores nature, modernity, identity, belonging, and sublimity through the site of the Great Lakes bioregion/borderland.
His reading will be accompanied by wonderful local poet Chuck Joy and followed by a Q&A, then closing with an open mic in which all members of the community are welcome to participate.
We will meet in the Peninsula Room, a large space where we can social distance and still enjoy the company of other artists. This event will be recorded and posted to the Erie County YouTube page and Erie County Public Library's social media. Masks must be worn by the audience per the Erie County Masking Policy and social distancing is encouraged. NOTE: this event is on a Monday, not Tuesday as usual!
ABOUT HOMES
Part post-modern nature poetry, part immigrant travelogue, HOMES traces the shoreline of the Great Lakes, from the rocky North Shore of Minnesota to the Thousand Islands of eastern Ontario and every wild and populous place between. Against the backdrop of environmental destruction and a history of colonialism, these poems bring a bold ecopoetic lens to bear on the natural-cultural sprawl of the world’s largest, most porous borderland, seeking to inhabit an entire region as home. Finalist for a Heartland Booksellers Award, HOMES is also on Ecotone Journal's shortlist of most anticipated 2021 indie press releases.

Read an Ecolit review. Read a World Literature Today review. Read a piece from the book in Split Rock Review.
