War and the Humanities: A Reading Group In-Person
This group meets twice a month to discuss books about war from humanities sources: fiction, poetry, memoir, and more. Books are provided, as well as refreshments. For June, we will be reading the WWI poetry of Wilfred Owen. Owen, a decorated British soldier, was killed in action excatly one week before the 1918 Armistice put a stop to active combat. His mixture of Romantic metaphors and intense realism creates a haunting and penetrating artistic insight into the human experience of war. After registering, stop in at the Edinboro Branch to pick up your copy.
