War and the Humanities: A Reading Group In-Person
This group meets twice a month to discuss books about war from humanities sources: fiction, poetry, memoir, and more. Books are provided as well as refreshments. For August, we will be reading a National Book Award finalist: The Yellow Birds by Kevin Powers. Written by an Iraq War veteran, this novel about two young friends in the Iraq War offers a lyrical, poetic meditation on modern warfare and the unexpected aftermath of combat beyond the theater of war. After registering, stop in at the Edinboro Branch to pick up your copy.
