War and the Humanities: A Reading Group In-Person
This group meets twice a month to discuss books about war from humanities sources: fiction, poetry, memoir, and more. For December, we will be reading The Watch by Joydeep Roy-Bhattacharya. This highly creative novel takes the ancient Greek tragedy of Antigone and reinterprets it in the modern-day war in Afghanistan. The story takes a single battle with its ensuing consequences and offers seven different perspectives on it. Showing the far-reaching effects of war, The Watch explores themes of family, loyalty, hostility, and cultural differences. Books are provided as well as refreshments. After registering, stop in at the Edinboro Branch to pick up your copy.
Registration has closed. (This event has to be booked as part of a series)
